What constitutes a custom home organization system? A home organization system is any type of home design that is built to streamline and simplify the task of cleaning and putting away items and objects that keep them out of the way, yet easily accessible when needed. Is your kitchen area or pantry a mess? Does it take you forever to find the ingredient you are looking for? Maybe it is time to recreate your pantry organization design into a more manageable space where you have specific pull out bins for dry goods, shelving areas for canned and boxed goods, spice racks, and wine racks.

Rooms like entryways, mudrooms and laundry rooms can all be customized in their own rights to turn your home into one big, well-oiled organization machine. Tailored Living can help you design an entryway that will stow everyone’s shoes in an organized fashion so that guests don’t drag dirt into your newly cleaned home. Pull out laundry bins can help your children separate their laundry, making it a much simpler task to undertake. Never pick up jackets off the back of the couch again with a custom mudroom organization design that has spaces for everyone’s coats and outer garments during the winter.

HFC Co-Founder, Dave Lewis, Gives Back to the Community

In the spirit of giving this holiday season, HFC – parent company of Budget Blinds and Tailored Living – would like to spotlight co-founder and Chief Information Officer Dave Lewis and his efforts to give back to the community!

Dave has always believed in giving back to those in need. He is very involved with his local church and often supports many of their philanthropic initiatives including building homes in Mexico, water wells in Kenya, and feeding/housing the homeless across Orange County, CA. Dave also participates in his church’s Giving Tree every year where presents are donated to families in need by picking their names off a Christmas tree.

A few months ago, Dave and his wife were invited to a charity event for cystic fibrosis that featured a silent auction. Dave and his wife not only donated a 4 night stay at an oceanfront resort for the auction, but also bid on several of the auction items. Overall, the couple enjoys supporting great causes such as Teams in Training which contributes funds to leukemia research.

“It’s important that we all come together and find ways to support and help one another,” said Dave Lewis. “Giving does not have to be financial; it can also be done by volunteering at your local church or homeless shelter. Anyone can find their own way of giving back this holiday season to help those who need it most.”

HFC is doing their part in giving back. This year, the company launched the Million Dollar Franchise Event to encourage veterans of the United States Military to pursue the American Dream of starting their own business. The event grants unprecedented discounts off the purchase of a Budget Blinds or Tailored Living franchise with the goal of reaching $1,000,000 in total discounts. Organizing by Seasons: Tips and Tricks to Easy & Efficient Garage Storage

Stowing and retrieving decorations, sports equipment, seasonal gear, and other items that are only used at certain points throughout the year can be a complicating and annoying task if your belongings are difficult to get to. One way to make this a much easier process is to organize your items by season and usage. Once you have everything categorically sorted, the next thing you want to think about is where and how you will store these items for the easiest access.

Many homeowners find that the garage is the best area in their home to store their seasonal equipment because it is out of the way, but not so far out of the way to make it inaccessible when needed. According to the US Department of Energy, 25 percent of people with two-car garages don’t park any cars in there and only 32% park a single car. Based on this data, we can surmise that the majority of Americans use their garages as a storage or work space, maybe both. To get the most out of your garage storage space take these tips and tricks into account when planning out a new, or updating an existing, garage design.

Garage cabinets
  • While garage cabinetry is not a new concept, custom cabinetry designed specifically to fit the individual needs of your family is far and away better than any generic cabinetry you can find in a store. Tailored Living can customize your garage storage cabinets to fit whatever seasonal objects and items you wish. They are perfect for storing seasonal sports equipment and gear.

Gridwalls
  • Gridwalls, if you aren’t aware, are designed to hold anything and everything against the walls of your garage. These garage storage devices are metallic grids that, once affixed on the wall, can be outfitted to hold anything from a box of tennis balls to your mountain bikes!

Overhead storage
  • Probably the most underused and underrated of all storage devices for a garage, overhead storage can be the perfect solution for seasonal decorations that you will only use a few months out of the year. Overhead storage will keep your items up and out of the way, but still easily accessible when you need them.

Each and every homeowner has a different vision of what they want their garage to look like and how they want it to be used. Tailored Living can help you turn this vision into reality, give them a call today!

Home Franchise Concepts Remembers Veterans on the Anniversary of Pearl Harbor

Co-founder of Home Franchise Concepts, Tony Forbes, Whose Father Was Stationed at Pearl Harbor During the Bombing, Gives Thanks to Service Men and Women

This Saturday, December 7th, marks the 72nd anniversary of the Pearl Harbor bombing that saw 2,402 American soldiers killed and another 1,282 wounded. It was an event that sent shock waves through a nation and changed the trajectory of World War II.

Home Franchise Concepts (HFC) – the parent company of home improvement franchise properties Budget Blinds and Tailored Living – would like to take a moment to remember the sacrifices that were made that day and thank veterans of all military backgrounds for what they’ve done for this country.

HFC’s strong ties to the military are due in large part to the company’s co-founder and Executive Vice President Tony Forbes. Tony comes from a military family; his brother currently serves in the U.S. Navy and his father is a veteran of World War II. In fact, Tony’s father, William J. Forbes, was on-site when Pearl Harbor was bombed in 1941 which is why the upcoming anniversary is close to his heart.

“My father passed away 10 years ago but I will always remember his stories of the events at Pearl Harbor,” said Tony Forbes. “On the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, it’s very important for us to remember the sacrifices that were made and the brave soldiers that were lost that day. It’s because of these sacrifices that we were able to build the United States into one of the greatest nations in the world.”

Tony Forbes believes that through the enduring and selfless efforts of our military over the years, we’ve all had the opportunity to live the American Dream of starting your own business. Tony himself has lived it, acting as a co-founder to Budget Blinds, Tailored Living, and their parent company HFC.

As a way of giving back, HFC launched the Million Dollar Franchise Event this year which grants veterans of all backgrounds substantial discounts off the purchase of a Budget Blinds or Tailored Living franchise. The idea is to reach $1,000,000 in total discounts. It is HFC’s way of giving veterans the opportunity to live the American Dream which they have fought so hard to protect.

“Coming from a military family, I’ve been close to the people who have laid it all on the line in service to this country,” said Tony Forbes.  “This is why the Million Dollar Franchise Event is so important to me. It presents the opportunity to give back to veterans.”

The 72nd anniversary of the Pearl Harbor bombing presents a moment to pause, honor, and give thanks to the veterans of the United States military. Tony Forbes and the rest of the HFC team believe we should all come together to give back in any way we can.

Home Franchise Concepts Enlists Lisa Rosser to Help Match Military Veterans with Business Opportunities

Home Franchise Concepts (HFC) – the parent company of home improvement franchises Budget Blinds and Tailored Living – has enlisted military veteran and veteran business advocate Lisa Rosser to help reach and educate the veteran community on the benefits of owning a franchise business. Using Lisa Rosser’s expert advice, as well as personal and professional experience, HFC hopes to give retired service men and women an exciting new platform where they can apply their military training.

Lisa Rosser served 10 years of active duty in the U.S. Army and was involved in several military engagements, including the Gulf War.  Rosser later served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 12 years, where her career took her from operations to human resource management. Compiling all her personal and professional experiences in the military, Lisa Rosser founded The Value of a Veteran in 2007; an organization that teaches businesses principles in veteran hiring and retention. Today, Lisa takes part in workshops, seminars, and consulting engagements for programs that help build futures for veterans such as the VetFran program from the International Franchise Association.

“Working together with HFC, we can inform more veterans on the benefits of owning their own franchise business and ultimately open the door to a fulfilling career path for them after active service,” said Lisa Rosser. “Veterans have so much to offer the business world because of their military experience. Their focus and desire to succeed make them outstanding candidates for on opportunity such as this.”

Lisa Rosser was primarily brought on board to provide strategic direction to HFC’s Million Dollar Franchise Event, scheduled to launch on Veteran’s Day November 11, 2013. The event seeks to honor veterans and make the American Dream of owning a business possible for them by granting substantial discounts off the purchase of a Budget Blinds or Tailored Living franchise system. With a history of supporting veterans and military-related causes, HFC seeks to grant at least 30 franchises to veterans totaling over 1 million dollars in discounts.

“The Million Dollar Franchise Event is our way of giving back to the military men and women that have sacrificed so much for our country,” said Chad Hallock, CEO of Home Franchise Concepts. “We believe the discipline, determination, and confidence they have gained during active duty has prepared them for a successful career as franchise business owners. With Lisa’s unique background and skillset, we hope to get that message across to veterans of all backgrounds and help them reach success by taking charge of their futures through business ownership.”
