Together Again: Tailored Living Helps Property Brother, Drew Scott, Renovate His Honeymoon Home

Once again, Tailored Living is proud to align with The Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, for a personal project. In 2014 for their TV show, Property Brothers at Home, Tailored Living installed custom closet organization systems, garage storage cabinets in both garages along with PremierTrax garage floors for their mega Las Vegas home renovation. Now, facing another epic renovation, Drew and Linda's Los Angeles honeymoon home, Tailored Living was invited to lend their well-known expertise and design excellence to the project for a complete garage makeover, including custom garage storage cabinets and a custom garage floor.

For years, the Property Brothers have been the reigning favorites on HGTV in the U.S. and on the W Network in Canada with their home improvement shows: Property Brothers, Buying and Selling, Brother vs. Brother and Property Brothers at Home. This new installment, Property Brothers at Home: Drews Honeymoon House will premiere in November, Thanksgiving weekend, on HGTV. Five, one-hour episodes will feature both brothers as they do what they do best--renovate a house to fulfill the dreams of the new owners.

In this case, Drew Scott and fiancee, Linda Phan.

In true Property Brothers Style

The Los Angeles honeymoon home was built in 1921 with English-inspired architecture and so much character says Drew. A plus for the couple is that the home is in its original configuration, five bedrooms, four bathrooms and 3,442 sq. ft., with no renovations in its almost 100-year history. The age of the home meant that there were issues of lead and asbestos in the house along with miles of ridiculous wallpaper that had to be dealt with. Installing upvc windows and doors will definitely be necessary. One big question: will the poodles and puppies wallpaper that Linda loves survive the cut?

Taking the home down to bare bones means that Drew and Jonathan are again playing race-the-clock to have the home renovation completed in time for the rehearsal dinner in June. Wedding date is June 10, 2018. (Property Brothers at Home had the deadline of a planned family reunion.)They've teased bits of information about the renovation plans and, although Jonathan is the contractor of the duo, he says that for Drew's honeymoon house he's, Letting Drew and Linda lead the design for this house.

  • Walls will come down to create more space
  • Doors, doors and more doors have got to go
  • Adding design features of Art Deco and old Hollywood glam
  • Updated kitchen, moving and enlarging it (a large kitchen addition cost can be minimised if you're savy)
  • Master bedroom moved from the front to the back of the house
  • Linda gets a crafts room
  • Drew gets built-in storage throughout the house, big walk-in closet
  • Keeping the entrance stairway and banister
  • Keeping the front windows since its a registered historic home

Factor in Drew's comment about the hundreds of homes they've renovated for others --We are renovating houses for them; here, I can put all the bells and whistles that I want in the house. and you can begin to imagine how grand this will be! You can see a video tour of the home, narrated by Drew, Linda and Jonathan, giving away very little of the final outcome.

Love and whimsy

Drew and Linda met in 2010 at a Toronto Fashion Week event where Linda was dressed as the fashion police, complete with a badge and giving out tickets for bad fashion. Love blossomed and careers aligned and Linda became the creative director for Scott Brothers Entertainment, keeping them in close proximity despite Drew's extremely busy travel and filming schedules. A surprise (for Linda) engagement party sealed the deal in December 2016, with over 200 family and friends flown in and sworn to secrecy. The engagement cake, designed based on Linda's favorite Dr. Seuss book, Oh, the Places We'll Go!, was topped with a little man offering a 1.2 carat solitaire diamond engagement ring that Drew custom designed for Linda.

Their excitement about getting married is contagious in its joyful expression. When Drew performed a knock-out Rumba on Dancing With the Stars with Emma Slater to Turn the Lights Down Low, he commented, All I yearned for after our Rumba tonight was Linda's kiss and her words, I Love You. He and Linda plan to have their first dance as husband and wife to that very song. (Sigh)
